Parent Testimonial

My son was in kindergarten in central PEI. In the spring of 2022, PEERS Alliance was invited to the school for a presentation. They were going to read a book about loving who you are. However, that book was apparently unavailable so, instead, the presenter read a book about choosing your gender. It was about a girl who identified as a boy, a boy who identified as a girl, and a child with no gender. My son did not tell us about anything until the following Monday when he described the presentation, confused about what it meant. I called to ask for details, but the teacher was very vague. The principal agreed to meet with me, and told me about what PEERS Alliance was supposed to teach. When he tried to call PEERS Alliance to ask for further details about what had been presented, he was called a transphobe and the conversation ended abruptly.
